DDDL - RULES 2024-2025 SEASON
1) The league shall be called the Dingle and District Darts League whose league headquarters
shall be the Mount Carmel social club Liverpool 8 for a period of 3 years or at such a place
as may from time to time be appointed by the committee at an annual and general meeting.
League meetings shall be held in the appointed league headquarters on the second Sunday in
each month and all clubs must be represented. Teams that do not provide a representative at
THREE or more league meetings shall have their Captain, Secretary and Treasurer removed from the
Captains, Secretaries and Treasurers competitions for that Season. All secretaries to sign the
attendance book on arrival at monthly meetings. Collection at these meetings will take place
for fees detailed below. If a clubs secretary cannot make the monthly meeting another member of
his/her team should attend.
£6 (including £1 for bereavement fund) per team.
2) Membership of the league shall be confined to bona fide amateur dart players only.
3) The annual general meeting will take place at the commencement of each new season when a
chairman, secretary, treasurer and four committee members and two additional auditors will
be elected for three years
3a) Any items to be discussed at an AGM should be put in writing to the league secretary three
weeks before the AGM. The League secretary will issue copies of the items to all club
secretaries for them to discuss with their teams. At the AGM only league secretaries will
be allowed to vote on those items. Only teams and players that played in the previous season
have the right to vote.

5) Only the Chairman, secretary, treasurer and four officers have the responsibility for managing
the league in accordance with these rules and do not have the authority to change, introduce
or influence what may be conceived has variations of these rules by members of the league.
6) When all the above elected members are in attendance they have the responsibility and power
to make informed decisions based on these rules, if full attendance of the committee is not
possible then a representative of the missing committee member’s team (captain) must attend
in his/her absence.
7) In the event that an agreement can’t be reached by the committee and if any circumstances
arise that may not be covered within these rules they should then be voiced at a full AGM
specifically any introduction of new rules, or making changes to existing rules, or making
decisions based on or surrounding any misinterpretation of these rules thus giving all those
involved or in dispute the opportunity to air any grievances.
8) Those members of the league who for whatever reason wish to call for emergency meetings i.e.
EGM or seek guidance from the elected committee must do so in writing through their own team
secretary who will then approach the committee. In the event that the team secretary is not
available then another representative of that team should be nominated i.e. Captain, treasurer.
9) The league secretary, treasurer and chairman's roles are stand alone posts responsible for
administering the league. The committee is to be formed by each of the secretaries of the teams
in the league.
10) The Dingle & District Darts League committee reserve the right to refuse any players registration
to the league that they deem to be disruptive or un-sportsman in their behaviour.
11) The agreed league honorariums for committee members are as follows
Secretary and Treasurer: £250 each per season
Chairman and other 4 committee members: £30 each per season
12) League fees and competition fees as below
Club registration £30.00 per season
Players registration £1.50 each
Individuals competitions £1.50 each
Pairs Competition £3.00 per pair
9-a-side competition £16.50 per team
7-a-side competition £13.50 per team
5-a-side competition £10.50 per team
3-a-side competition £7.50 per team
Captains, Secretary’s, Treasurer £2.00 each
13) All players registrations to be handed to the league secretary on or before stipulated date made
by the secretary of that season.
14) The last date for signing players is up to the date of the 6th league game from end of the season.
15) Players may only transfer to another team up to the date of the 6th league game from end of season
and will only be allowed if BOTH teams agree and the transfer has been ratified by the League
Committee
16) Players can be registered up to 8pm of a match night so long as the name has been forwarded by text
to the league secretary before the 8pm deadline.
17) All league games to be played on Thursday nights at 9pm prompt and no postponements, cancellations
or alterations can be made to fixtures without the full consent of all the committee members, any
request for fixtures to be deferred or cancelled must be made in writing to the secretary of the
league and must be made a minimum of one week before the fixture is scheduled to be played. In the
event a fixture can’t be played due to unforeseen circumstances venue closure etc. and specifically
at short notice the entire league committee will meet set a time and date for the fixture to be
played at the league headquarters (The Mount). If The Mount cannot be used the committee will
appoint a neutral venue from those venues/pubs already in the Dingle league. If agreement can’t be
made or the committee don’t agree to the arranged fixture then the original fixture must stand at
the original venue.
18) The Dingle & District Darts League committee will not get involved or rule on any instances of a
player or players being barred from any of the premises playing in the league because of their
behaviour regardless of circumstances.
19) League match format will be as follows
Game 1 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 2 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 3 - Pairs to play 501 Straight Start/Double Finish
Game 4 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 5 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 6 - Pairs to play 501 Straight Start/Double Finish
Game 7 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 8 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Game 9 - Individual player to play 301 Double Start/Double Finish
Each player may play in one Individuals 301 game and/or one Pairs 501 game.
The first team winning 5 games will be awarded 2 points.
20) A regulation board to be used at all times measured a distance 7ft 9 1/4 inches from the board to
the oche and at an height of 5ft 8 inches from the floor to the centre of the bull, all teams have
a responsibility to ensure the correct fitting and measurement of the board and that the oche is
clearly marked by means of a raised block or clearly marked throwing line. Players must toe the
oche at all times and will be warned by the caller and marker if they fail to do so. Details of
the correct throwing line for each venue will be published in the fixture books after being
checked and measured by the committee.
21) Teams must have a minimum of 6 players to start the league matches and teams without 6 players in
attendance will forfeit the match, if both teams fail to field 6 players the match will be void
and no points awarded.
22) In the event that one team is leading for example 4-3 but has no further players available to play
and their opponents do they are deemed not to be able to continue the game and the points go to
the team still able to field players.
23) Teams failing to meet fixtures will be fined £10 payable to the opposing team. They will also have
one point deducted and lose their right to the return game at home. In the event that three
fixtures are missed the team will face automatic expulsion from the league.
24) Home teams must ensure that the board is open for practice at 8.50pm.
25) Captains of each team should keep a record of the games played during a match and the winning captain
should ensure that a photograph of the Match Result, showing the names of the players who have played
and their individual result is forwarded to the League Secretary as soon as possible after the match
has been completed. Results can be sent via WhatsApp, Text, Messenger or can be posted to the league
FB group/page.
26) In league matches the away team to put name up first and throw first in games 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and
the home team to put name up first and throw first in games 2, 4, 6, 8. Home team to provide a
marker for the duration of the match. The away team to provide a caller for the duration of the
match who will be responsible for informing players of scores hit and scores left when asked
without stating any doubles, trebles, or out shot combinations. If a player is called to be off
or going or to have hit a winning double and their dart falls out of the board before being
retrieved by the player the dart does not count and the game must be continued
27) If the wrong finishing score is given to a player by the caller/markers and the player succeeds
in hitting that score then the score given stands.
28) Teams with outstanding debts to the league will be given notice of such debts and a date at which
time they should be paid. Failure to pay monies owed to the league by the due date made by the
committee will result in expulsion from the league. The debt of the team in question will then be
set proportionately to the team members and those members will not be allowed to play again within
the league until their portion of the debt is paid.
29) Teams with players having identical names and initials must identify them if requested.
30) Teams playing ineligible players face a fine from the league, loss of points for the game or games
they have played in and possible expulsion from the league.
31) Teams resigning or being expelled from the league in the first half of the season will have their
records expunged and any points already awarded will be taken away.
32) Any team resigning or being expelled from the league in the second half of the season will have
the points awarded to teams that have won them.
33) Players resigning or being expelled from their team can only continue to play in individual or
pairs competitions and are not allowed to compete in any other competitions or league matches.
34) Players that have been expelled from the league on recommendation of the committee are not allowed
to play in any game or competition within the dingle league.
35) In the event that fixtures dictate that teams play each other 3 times during the season the last
game/match shall be played in accordance of the 9-a-side rules ie: winner of toss throws first in
legs 1,3,5,7,9.
36) All competitions to be played on Thursday nights (the 6 dart practice rule does not apply in any
games).
36a) All competition forms are to be handed in by the date given by the League Secretary. Any subsequent
changes will only be allowed up to one week before the first round draw for that competition. After
that no further changes will be allowed. Any changes will be published on the league website.
37) Secretaries, Treasurers and Captains competitions - to be played best of 3 legs 301 up double
start and finish, order of throw determined by the toss of a coin, winner throws first in first
leg and loser throws first in the second leg. If the game is drawn the toss of a coin to
determine who throws first in the last leg. Semi-finals and finals will also be the best of 3 legs.
38) Individual competition - to be played best of 3 legs 301 up double start and finish, order of
throw determined by toss of a coin, winner throws first in first leg and loser throws first in
the second leg. If the game is drawn the toss of a coin to determine who throws first in the last
leg. Semi-final and finals will be the best of 5 legs.
39) Pairs competition - to be played best of 3 legs 501 up straight start and double finish toss of a
coin to determine who throws first in first leg and loser throws first in second leg. If the game
is drawn the toss of the coin to determine who throws first in the last leg. Semi-finals and finalss
are the best of 5 legs.
40) 3-a-side competition - registration of 5 players per team. First game to be Individuals 301 double
start and finish, second game is Doubles game 501 straight start double finish (individuals players
cannot also play in the doubles game). If required the third game is 3-a-side game to be played
straight start double finish 701 up. Toss of a coin to determine playing order, winner throws
first in individual and 3-a-side legs. Teams must have a minimum of 3 players to start the game.
41) 5-a-side competition - registration of 7 players per team. Match to consist of 5 Individual games
of 301 up double start and finish, toss of a coin to determine throwing order, winner throws first
in legs 1,3,5 and loser throws first in legs 2 and 4. If a match should reach a score of 2-2 and both
teams not having another player then names will be put into a hat and one member from each team will
be drawn to play a decider.
42) 7-a-side competition - registration of 9 players per team. Match to consist of 7 individual games
of 301 up double start and finish, toss of a coin to determine throwing order, winner throws first
in legs 1,3,5,7 and loser throws first legs 2,4,6. If a match should reach a score of 3-3 and both
teams not having another player then names will be put into a hat and one member from each team will
be drawn to play a decider.
43) 9-a-side competition - is open to all players registered to the team. Match to consist of 9
individual games of 301 up double start and finish, toss of a coin to determine throwing order,
winner throws first in legs 1,3,5,7,9 loser throws first legs 2,4,6,8. Teams must have a minimum
of 7 players to start the match. Failure to do so will result in loss of match. If both teams fail
to field 7 players then both teams are out.
44) Competition winners should ensure that a photograph of the competition result, showing the names of
the players/teams that have played is forwarded to the League Secretary as soon as possible after
the match has been completed. Results can be sent via WhatsApp, Text, Messenger of posted to the
League FB page/group.
44) All winners responsible for score cards reaching the secretary in all competitions (these can be
left over the bar in The Mount).
45) The league will not be responsible or recognise gentlemen’s agreements in matches played before
the specified dates nor can any matches be re-arranged for after the dates specified or scheduled
to be played. If teams/players agree to play a match at a re-arranged date and for whatever reason
find themselves unable to play then the original date and fixture will stand. Teams wishing to
re-arrange fixtures/matches should seek the approval of the committee who would then decide if the
fixture/match should be re-scheduled and if so to a date they approve (see RULE 16). Players
wishing to re-arrange competitions that are drawn provisionally as blocks by the committee can
only do so if all those involved in the block are in agreement and that the re-arranged block is
played before the specified date and at the venue designated for the block, if complete agreement
can’t be reached then the original block/fixture stands. Players and teams are reminded that they
do not need to agree to play games/competitions at any times other than those stated by the league,
and if at any time fixtures or games cannot be played due to extenuating circumstances the
committee will meet in a hope of resolving such issues The committee promotes fair play and
sportsmanship in the hope such events can be managed effectively but those wishing to re-arrange
games do so at their own risk under the term (GENTLEMANS AGREEMENT).
46) The league bereavement fund if any will be controlled by the elected committee.
47) All finals competitions will be drawn at 8.45pm any player not in attendance at 9pm will not be
considered eligible to play.
48) All cups and plaques will be provided but remain the sole property of the dingle league and clubs
are expected to take full responsibility for trophies in their possession.
49) Clubs failing to clean and maintain trophies in the condition they were received will be fined and
any damage to trophies in their possession or failure to return such trophies will result in that
team being fined the full cost of replacing them, any clubs resigning or being expelled from the
league must return trophies forthwith to the dingle darts league committee.
50) Trophies will be awarded for the following competitions:
League winners, runner up
Individual winner, runner up, semi-finalist
Doubles winner, runner up, semi-finalist
Captains winners, runner up and semi-finalists
Treasurer winners, runner up and semi-finalists
Secretary winners, runner up and semi-finalists
9-a-side winners, runner up
7-a-side winners, runner up, semi-finalists
5-a-side winners, runner up, semi-finalists
3-a-side winners, runner up, semi finalists
Highest finish league games only
Least number of darts league games only
180 scores league and all comps
Trophies for Semi-Finalists in Cap/Sec/Treas and 3/5/7-a-sides have been removed
51) All protests must be handed to the league secretary in writing within seven days of alleged
infringement with a further copy to be handed to other parties concerned, each protest must also
be accompanied by a £5 fee which will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld.
52) The Dingle League committee shall whenever possible ensure that the league finances do not exceed
a carryover total of £1000 due to its needs to meet expenses for running the league and any
donations that’s made out of the bereavement fund, any monies collected over the £1000 limit will
be divided between the teams participating in the league the previous season.
53) People are reminded that committee members help run the league on a voluntary basis and should not
be subjected to either verbal or physical abuse and can only deal with issues arising within the
league when the committee meet. All matters needing the attention of the committee should be raised
through your team secretary and will be dealt with at the earliest possible opportunity.
54) Teams are asked to remind their players that they are expected to act in a sporting manner when
playing league or competition matches in this league. Players who act in a non-sporting manner or
cause disruption may be suspended from the league with possible consequences for the team.
Players are asked to switch their phones to silent during matches whenever possible.
