SEASON 2019 - 2020 - 2021

April 7th

New Season 2022-2023

At last Sundays EGM the following proposals were agreed

1. The new league format (3 individual games of 301, 3 pairs games of 501 and 3 individual
games of 301 with players allowed to play in indies and pairs) has been overturned and
the format for the new season will revert to 9 individual games of 301.

2. Any items to be discussed at an AGM should be put in writing to the league secretary
three weeks before the AGM. The League secretary will issue copies of the items to all
club secretaries for them to discuss with their teams. At the AGM only league secretaries
will be allowed to vote on those items.

Based on the result of the E.G.M. it looks like there will only be eight teams in the league
but this is still to be confirmed. Teams need to confirm their participation in the new
season by Sunday 10th April.

The plan is to try and start the new season as early as possible (21st or 28th April).

February 25th

E.G.M. - SUNDAY 3rd APRIL - 12:30pm in MOUNT CARMEL

A request has been given to the league committee for an Extraordinary General Meeting.
There are three proposals given below and the reasons given for each proposal.

(Note that proposals 1 & 2 are mutually exclusive if proposal 1 passes then proposal 2
is no longer valid. If proposal 1 fails proposal 2 can then be discussed and voted on)

The committee have agreed to this meeting with the proviso that:

- NO OTHER ITEMS APART FROM THE 3 DETAILED BELOW WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THIS MEETING.

- ALL MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE CAN ATTEND AND VOTE AT THIS MEETING.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROPOSALS are:

Proposal 1 - scrap the new match format and return to the old 9 aside format

Reason - To involve more team members in the game by giving them a opportunity
of game time, to help get over any match nerves, improve their game etc secure the
future of the league. I feel playing a format where just 6 players can decide a match
will only lead to attendances dropping ie same crowd get played week in week out which
would be the case. if you wish to remain competitive it will only lead to those who
aren't given an opportunity losing interest.

Proposal 2 - keep the new format but players can only play once in the match and
not both indies and doubles

Reason
To keep the new format but restricting players to only playing once on the night this
will increase the opportunities for team members getting a game (12 players) and I
believe keep people interested and attendances up.

Proposal 3 - any future requests for rule changes or introduction of new rules to
be made in writing to the league sec who will then let all the team secs know so they
can discuss with their teams before being voted on by secs ie one team one vote
...this may go some way to add a structure rather than what's taking place now

Reason
The other proposal is sent as an answer to the madness of constant rule changes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No further correspondence on these proposals or the meeting will be entered into before the
meeting.

FINAL - JIMMY CHAPMAN 9-A-SIDE COMPETITION

THe finals of the 9-a-side took place on December 9th. With St Michaels resignation from the league
there were only three teams left to compete in the finals which meant one team was lucky enough to
receive a bye into the final, that team was Anglesea. This left Mount to play The Vic in the
remaining semi final. It was a close fought match which went to the very last game with Mount
emerging the victors. The final was not so closely fought as Mount beat Anglesea.

FINAL - 7-A-SIDE COMPETITION

The finals of the 7-a-side competition took place last night. Two of the teams expected to take

the final. With the score at 3-3 Anglesea, who were missing three players because of Covid-19, had
no player left to contest the deciding game and Mount therefore won the match by default.

SIGNS OF PROGRESS - LEAGUE MEETING

There will be a league meeting on Sunday, July 25th at 12:30pm in the MOUNT.

The meeting is to discuss if/how we restart the 2019-2020 season.

There are three possible options

1. Restart the league from where we left off in March 2020 and finish all league matches and
   competitions

2. Play no more league matches and have a playoff for the league title between the top two/four teams
   and finish off all competitions.

3. Play no more league matches and have a playoff for the league title between the top two/four teams
and finish off only those competitions where the finalists have already been decided
     - 9-a-side and 7-a-side

There is a fourth option to scrap the current league and start a new league as soon as possible but
it seems only fair to all those who have made it this far to have some sort of completion for the
current league

All these options plus any others will be discussed at the meeting.

YET ANOTHER COVID UPDATE

After the government announcement yesterday concerning the relaxing of restrictions I've put some
provisional dates together for restarting the interrupted 2019-2020 league season.

Given that they said that we should all be back to normal on June 21st the proposal is that once
the pubs are open we allow a couple of weeks for the "excitement" to die down and for teams to
regroup and "sober" up. Then start the season on Thursday July 8th, this would mean that all league
and cup competitions would complete on Thursday December 2nd.

There would probably be a league meeting called for Sunday June 27th.

Obviously all of this is dependant on the success of vaccines etc etc and dates may slip but it
does look like we have something positive to work with this time.

In the meantime stay safe and I'll post more news nearer the time.

COVID UPDATE

A RAY OF HOPE ON THE HORIZON

Without getting carried away the news surrounding the handling of the Covid epidemic and testing
and vaccinations etc there looks like there is a possibility that we may getting back to some
sort of normality sometime around Easter next year. So based on that and with a whiff of optimism
I've taken a look at maybe restarting the league on the first Thursday after Easter ie 8th April
with a view to ending it on 2nd September. This would then allow us to start a new season in early
October.

Obviously this is totally dependent on pubs being allowed to reopen and any restrictions that may
still be in place by then. If all goes well a league meeting will be held as early as possible
before the restart.

Here's hoping we all get through the current situation safely and we can all restart playing darts.

COVID-19 - LEAGUE UPDATE

As people are no doubt aware it’s looking extremely likely that there will be no chance of
restarting the darts before Xmas and in all reality probably not before Easter.

At the moment the intention is still to restart the suspended season when conditions allow.
However with such a long layoff the decision to restart or start a new season will be put to
a meeting nearer the time.

In the meantime take care and stay safe.

COVID-19 - LEAGUE UPDATE

As we all know pubs/bars are allowed to open from 4th July and I'm sure we're all chomping
at the bit for that first pint and game of darts.

Getting a pint shouldn't be too hard though it remains to be seen how we go about ordering
it and where in the pub/bar you can actually drink it.

I suspect having a game of darts may be more difficult particularly in the smaller venues.
So when it comes down to restarting the darts season please have patience and bear with us.
We are as keen as everybody else to get going again but we can only restart when the pubs/bars
are allowed to relax some of the imposed restrictions and make it possible while remaining
SAFE for us to do so.

We will be monitoring (as I'm sure everybody else will) the status of the restrictions etc
and will inform members as soon as we think we have a date to start.

Thank you for your patience and STAY SAFE.

COVID-19 - LEAGUE UPDATE

Firstly I'd like to wish all league members and their families best wishes in this unusual,
unprecedented period.

As most people are probably aware there appears to be no date on the horizon for when the
social restrictions will be lifted. However I fully expect to complete this league season
once the restrictions are lifted.

For information and so players have an idea of how the league may be completed I have done
various projections for how long the league may last based on matches still to be played.

For example:

Potential restart date Expected end date
---------------------- -----------------
May 7th October 1st
June 4th October 29th
July 2nd November 26th
July 23rd December 17th

These are purely projections and are no way firm dates. As and when the restrictions are
lifted more information will be given.

Details for next season will be given once we know when this season is likely to complete.

Please take care and stay safe

R.I.P. BRIAN FOGG

It is with regret I have to inform members that a long standing member of the Dingle & District
Darts League, Brian Fogg, has recently passed away. Brian played for a number of teams over the
years including Anglesea, Poets Corner, Pineapple, Dead House, S.A.M.S. and United Services.

On behalf of the league we send our condolences to Brian's family and friends at this sad time.
